I’m standing at the edge of desire.
An unquenchable flame that does not flicker,
Insatiable, I always want more,
A thirst never quenched.
The brand-new car, the castle,
the latest gadgets in my hand
Each one a transient pleasures
slip like footprints in the sand.
More wealth, more power,
more eulogy, more things,
Yet, the heart feels empty,
With each new golden ring.
Why do I yearn for more and more?
when every gain leaves me hollow,
That path of never-ending desires,
Is one that’s difficult to follow.
Perhaps it’s in the simple things,
In love, peace, giving,
Where true fulfillment resides,
In the essence of living.
I remain for now,
A traveler on this restless shore,
Always wanting, always seeking,
Forever needing more.
