Years notched in whispers, a love turned to dust,
Pride, like a serpent in the garden, has curled where trust once thrust.
You craved the glitter, the shine, a life you believe I couldn’t bring,
Blinded by whispers, poisoned by friends, a gilded, hollow ring.
My heart, a canvas splashed with you, now marred by shades of gray,
Your youth a fleeting butterfly, a reason for love’s decay.
We built a castle, stone by stone, with dreams on every wall,
But pride, a wrecking ball of doubt, caused it to crumble and fall.
Words left unspoken, apologies choked by stubborn air,
Love’s embers flicker, fading out, a weight we both must bear.
No grand betrayal, no fiery fight, just a slow, insidious rot,
Two souls adrift, once intertwined, forever a love we forgot.
Adesida Adetiloye seems to be one of the best poet I know. Keep it up the good work
Betrayal. Prideful love. Hmmmm love
Adesida Adetiloye you will go places with poetry…Thumbs up.
